YoP '20 - #1

Aaaaaand off we go - here's to the 10th Year of Progress, and my third time joining in! I'll be posting about my progress, such as there will be, here in the Diary, but have also created an extra YOP page for easier overview of plans and finishes and what have you (you can find the link in the menu above).

So, what are my plans for the year? Nothing in particular, to be honest. I have quite a list of works in progress, the majority of them huge long-term projects, so my first and foremost goal is to keep working on them and hopefully finish at least one of them. Chances are it will be my sockyarn Habitation Throw because it's such a simple, mindless project. Other than that, I just want to get back into blogging regularly, and take time every day to be crafty and creative, and probably learn some new techniques along the way. Instead of burdening myself with a long list of plans and projects, I'll just see what I feel like working on this year. I do intend to update my list of WIPs and FOs every week, even if I don't have much to show, and I will also count homemaking and gardening projects in.

Now, without further ado, here's my list of WIPs - FOs are yet to come. Hopefully.

Works in Progress:
  • Stripes and Squares Blanket - knitting - started ca 2014
  • 30 Years Blanket - crochet - started 22nd December, 2019
  • Simple Rag Quilt - sewing - started 31st March, 2020
  • Fox Paws - knitting - started 25th April, 2020
  • Sockyarn Habitation Throw - knitting - started 25th June, 2020
  • Pembroke Scarf - knitting -started 28th June, 2020
  • Vanillas - knitting - started ???
Finished Objects:

Coming soon (hopefully)

WIPs definitely count and I've got quite a few carried over. Anyone prepared to start a blanket with a thin yarn has my utmost respect. And you have quite a few on your list. I'm glad to see you back for a new year.

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Liz. I guess there'll be more older WIPs added to the list over the year, I started decluttering and older WIPs kept - and still keep - popping up right and left. I don't know what it is with me and thin yarn, I keep complaining about how long it takes to finish any project in thin yarn but I just can't bring myself to knit with what feels like rope to me.

wow! Those fox paws!! Great list, good luck in completing some WIPS :)

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Ellie. Fox Paws is so much fun to knit, and nowhere near as complicated as it looks.

Excellent idea. I am going to present my FO's from the last few weeks, next week, then I'm going to purge my wips. I'm still hopeful they may become FO's before then!
I'm really looking forward to seeing that habitation throw.

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Lucy. I worked on two Habitation Throws before but ran out of yarn for one, and didn't like the colour combinations in the other, so started again. It's a lovely pattern.

I look forward to seeing your WIPs become FOs.

I love your projects! The 30 year blanket is kind of scary and the Fox Paws is amazing! I have just kitted up the Habitation throw and can't wait to start that as I heard it is addictive. The pembroke scarf is gorgeous and I "faved" that one for sure! I look forward to seeing your projects.

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Sandra. Habitation Throw definitely is addictive, it's so mindless and a great take-along project, and I don't think I can stop at a mere one or two. Pembroke is a great take-along project, too, and lots smaller. And finished, but more on that next week. LOL.

So many different crafts--sewing, crochet and knitting. I bet it will feel good to finish some of these big long term projects.

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Elka. I tend to start blanket after blanket because I love blankets and always manage to persuade myself that the new one will be finished in no time, and that I'l work monogamously on it ... I do think that Habitation Throw and the Rag Quilt stand a chance of being finished some time this year.

Starting simple is such a good idea. Then you can add things as they come along with out guilt. I have way too many starts and things laying around. I look forward to seeing some of those finishes.

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Allison. There are still some older WIPs popping up with all the decluttering I'm doing so chances are there will be some more WIPs to be added soon. Not to mention some lovely new projects I've been thinking about starting.

Kommentar von Marsha |

I am glad to see someone else has projects more than a year old on their list. It is nice to have you join us again.

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Marsha. There might be more oder WIPs showing up. There must have been some temporal anomaly in my closet, I couldn't possibly have forgotten about all the WIPs and yarn I squeezed in there, right?

Kommentar von Mary-Anne |

Some good wips there to finish. I am sure you will have lots of projects join them this year.

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Mary-Anne. Yes, there's some more yarn in various boxes stashed all over the house that needs to be worked into something nice and useful and wearable. Plus lots of ideas of crafts and techniques I want to try.

Kommentar von Becki |

I'm glad you're joining in again, Ella. Like you, I'm starting by taking stock of my WIPs. That Fox Paws looks like one amazing project!

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Becki. Starting next week, I'll have progress pictures with my posts, and I will link the finished projects to their own pages. Fox Paws is a great pattern, and I think my candy colour cotton yarn version isn't all that bad.

wow, what an array of skills you have! I will be thrilled to follow it all, and especially interested in your quilting, about which I know nothing at all!

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Paola. The first one is just a simple rag quilt but hopefully, I'll get back into patchwork and quilting this year, it's so much fun.

Kommentar von Kathryn Lewis |

That's a great list! I'm focusing on a lot of old Wips in my YoP this year too. Best of luck as it gets started, I look forward to following along.

Antwort von Ella

Thank you, Kathryn. With so many of us digging up those old WIPs, maybe we should just wish each other happy WIPing instead of happy yopping? LOL
