Februar 22nd, 2012 “Knit ‘n’ Sip goes Socks on Ice” war das Motto und ich durfte ein Päcken von Heike aus der Villa Kunterblau auspacken:
This time Knit ‘n’ Sip was all about socks, and my presents were sent to me by Heike over at Villa Kunterblau:
Ein wunderschöner Strang Wolle in blau, rot und grün (viiiiel zu schade zum Verstricken, ich streichel ihn erstmal noch eine Weile *grins*), eine Anleitung mit einem Muster, das sich tatsächlich auf meine Größe runterrechnen läßt (ich hatte nämlich vergessen zu erwähnen, was für Mini-Füße ich habe) und mir sehr gut gefällt, Lakritze (mein Schaaaatzzzzzzzzzzzz) und leckere Rond Noir, von denen der Lieblingsehemann auch eins abbekommt, leckerer grüner Tee, eine Karte, die perfekt in meine Sammlung paßt, und Maschenmarkierer. Die hatte ich mir wirklich gewünscht, denn meine früheren sind alle irgendwie verschwunden.
Beautiful yarn in blue, red and green (too beautiful to knit it up, though, guess I’ll keep it around for petting purposes for a while *lol*), a pattern I like very much and that is perfectly adaptable to my size (I forgot to mention that I have very small feet), liquorice (my preciousssssssssssssss) and lovely Rond Noir that I’m going to share with Favourite Husband, very tasty green tea, a card that fits perfectly in with my collection, and stitch markers. I had really hoped to get some new ones because my old ones have left town, it seems.
Hübsch, gell? Und weil ich nun endlich wieder Maschenmarkierer habe, habe ich gleich mal Wingspan angefangen. Fotos morgen.

Januar 30th, 2012 Gleich drei Stück habe ich fertigbekommen in letzter Zeit. Gut, zwei sind auch total simpel, aber gehäkelt werden müssen sie ja trotzdem erstmal. Noch sieben, und dann hab ich einwas für’s Haus fertig.
I’ve finished the grand total of three potholders recently. Admittedly, two are pretty simpel but it still takes time to crochet them. Now only seven more until I can count them as one item for the house.

Januar 18th, 2012 Sorry für das unangebrachte Pathos, aber ich bin so froh, diesen Shrug endlich fertig zu haben. Ich bekam schon langsam Alpträume. Aber nun ist er erledigt. Ha!
I apologize for being so pathetic but I’m just so glad this shrug is done and finished. I was actually beginning to have nightmares about it but now it’s over and done with. Strike!
Wie immer sieht Sophie natürlich viel besser drin aus als ich, mal abgesehen davon, daß sie keine Arme hat, aber die denkt Ihr Euch halt bitte einfach dazu. Im Grunde ist so ein Shrug nichts weiter als ein Rechteck, das auf zwei Seiten so weit zugenäht wird, daß die Arme drin Platz haben und es nicht runterrutscht. Ich habe zwei Rechtecke gleichzeitig gestrickt und die dann in der Rückenmitte mit dem Three Needle Bindoff verbunden. Die Ärmelnähte habe ich im Matratzenstich geschlossen und am Schluß noch ein schmales Bündchen rundum angestrickt, damit sich das Rückenteil nicht einrollt.
As usual, Sophie looks so much better wearing it than I do, apart from the fact that she doesn’t have arms – but I’m sure you won’t have any difficulty imagining arms inside the sleeves, do you? All in all, a shrug is just a rectangle with two seams on either side that are just long enough to cover the arms and make sure the thing doesn’t slip off the shoulders. I knit two rectangles simultanousely and used the Three Needle Bindoff to seam them together in the middle of the back. The sleeve seams were done with mattress stich, and I added a small cuff to make sure the back wouldn’t curl.
Es ist ein niedliches kleines Teil und sicher sehr praktisch, zum Beispiel wenn ich auf dem Sofa unter einer Decke kuschele und mir nur um die Schultern und Arme herum kühl wird, oder an Tagen, an denen eine Jacke zu warm, ein T-Shirt allein aber doch etwas zu kühl ist. Dafür, daß es so ein einfaches Teil ist, habe ich doch extrem viel Zeit drauf vergeudet. Aber immerhin habe ich jetzt das Prinzip eines Shrugs verstanden und weiß beim nächsten Teil, was ich besser machen kann. Und weil ich ihn ja praktisch nochmal ganz neu gestrickt habe, erlaube ich mir, ihn als erstes Teil für meine “20 + 12 in 2012″ zu zählen. :-D
It’s a cute little thing and I believe it will come in handy, for example when I’m lying on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket, but still feel a bit chilly around the arms and shoulders. Or on days when a jacket is a tad too warm but a shirt is just a tad too cold. Considering that it’s such a simple piece, I’ve wasted far too much time on it. But now that I’ve understood the basic construction of shrugs, I know how to make the next one better. And as I actually frogged the first version and re-made it completely, I will count it as the first finished garment for my “20 + 12 in 2012″. :-D

Zwei Grannys in Größe 6″ wären dann schon mal fertig. Hier sieht man auch gleich, warum ich eigentlich eher ungern viele verschiedene Blöcke für eine Decke häkle: sie werden einfach nicht gleich groß. Im Moment habe ich keine Ahnung, ich das lösen werde, wenn es denn soweit ist, die Blöcke zu verbinden. Vielleicht noch eine Reihe anhäkeln? Oder ordentlich spannen und das Beste hoffen? Aber die Squares als solche gefallen mir schon gut.
Two 6″ grannys are done. And you can see pretty well why I don’t usally like to combine many different blocks to one blanket: they just never end up in exactly the same size. I don’t really know what I’m going to do once we’re in the joining stage. Add another round? Block excessively and hope for the best? As for the granny patterns, I like them very much.

Der 2012 Crochet Block-A-Month bei Ravelry hat begonnen, und ich bin nicht nur dabei, sondern habe den 12″ Block für Januar sogar schon fertig. Eigentlich mag ich meine Decken ja immer quietschbunt, aber diesmal habe ich mir tatsächlich ein festes Farbschema ausgesucht, nämlich weiß, hellgrau und dunkelgrau mit einem kleinen Detail in einer leuchtenden Farbe in jedem Square. Leider war die hellgraue Wolle ausverkauft, aber für diesen ersten Block kam ich erfreulicherweise auch ohne aus. Allerdings überlege ich seit gestern, ob ich nicht vielleicht noch eine zweite Decke mache mit den 6″ Blöcken, die dann aber in quietschbunt. Decken kann man ja immer brauchen, aber andererseits hätte ich ja auch noch ein paar andere Pläne für dieses Jahr. So ein 6″ Block ist natürlich ganz schnell gehäkelt, und es sind auch vom letztjährigen CAL so schöne Grannys dabei. Außerdem schlägt mein soziales Gewissen, denn die ganzen bunten Wollknäuel langweilen sich doch im Laden eh nur und bräuchten eigentlich dringend eine bessere Zukunftsperspektive. Und was ja auch nicht ganz unwichtig ist, ich hätte dann immer was Hübsches zu bloggen. Okay, okay, überstimmt, ich geh ja schon häkeln. :-))
The 2012 Crochet Block-A-Month (Ravelry) has begun and not only am I in, I’ve even finished the January 12″ block already. Usually, I like my blankets multicoloured but this time, I’ve decided on a colour scheme, that is white, light grey and dark grey, with one bright coloured detail in every square. Unfortunately, the light grey yarn was sold out but I could make do without for the first block. And now I’m contemplating making a second blanket with the 6″ blocks, in all the colours this yarn comes in. One can never have too many blankets but then again, I’ve already got so much on my plate for this year. A 6″ block is done pretty quickly though, and there are so many lovely patterns from last year’s CAL. Plus my social conscience is bugging me because all those lovely skeins must be bored by all this sitting on store shelves only, and definitely need a brighter outlook for their future. And what’s more, I’d have so many more lovelies to blog about. Okay, okay, you’ve won, I’m off to crochet some more. :-))

Erinnert sich jemand an dieses Foto? Entstanden ist es im März, da hatte ich gerade mein allererstes und noch unvollendetes Quilttop rausgesucht und war entschlossen, es fertigzustellen. Haha. Im Mai habe ich dann mal meinen ganzen Stash sortiert und mir fest vorgenommen, ganz viele tolle Sachen daraus zu machen. Hat irgendwie nicht geklappt. :-(
Anybody remember this photo? I took it way back in March after rediscovering my very first and still unfinished quilt top, and deciding to finish it before anything else. In May, I sorted through my stash and was determined to use up lots of it and make all kinds of beautiful things from it. Didn’t quite work out. :-(
Offensichtlich bin ich ein Mensch, der sich bestimmte Ziele und Deadlines setzen muß, um sich selbst zu motivieren. Also habe ich mir überlegt, mir für nächstes Jahr selber eine kleine Challenge aufzuladen: 20 + 12 in 2012. Das Ziel:
- 20 Kleidungsstücke für den Lieblingsehemann und mich
- 12 Sachen fürs Haus
Und damit es nicht zu einfach wird und ich mich nicht selbst bescheiße, lauten die Regeln:
- Socken sind nützlich, gelten aber nicht als Kleidungsstücke
- Mützen und Schals gelten nur im Set mit Handschuhen und nur einmal pro Person
- zehn Topflappen zusammen gelten als “einwas” fürs Haus
Was das Kaufen angeht, erlege ich mir kein Verbot auf. Gerade was Kleidung angeht, werde ich sicher noch den einen oder anderen Stoff kaufen müssen im Laufe des Jahres. Außerdem geht es mir mehr darum, endlich mal meine Ideen umzusetzen und wirklich etwas zu produzieren und die einen oder anderen WIPs fertigzustellen. Und wenn ich meine Challenge brav durchhalte, darf ich mir Ende nächsten Jahres ein hübsches neues Objektiv für Ophelia gönnen. Weil Belohnung muß schließlich sein.
Apparently, I’m the kind of person who needs to set firm goals and deadlines to be motivated. Hence I’ve decided on my own little challenge: 20 + 12 in 2012. The goal:
- make 20 garments for favourite husband and myself
- make 12 things for the house
Just so it won’t get too easy and I don’t cheat, the rules are:
- socks are lovely but don’t count as garments
- berets and scarfs only count as a set including gloves, and only one set per person
- ten potholders make one “thingie” for the house
As for buying, there won’t be any restrictions. I will certainly have to buy some fabric for garments throughout the year, and besides, my focus is more on finally seeing my ideas take actual shape and producing something, and maybe even finishing the occasional WIP along the way. And if I successfully see my challenge through, I may buy a shiny new lens for Ophelia. Because good girls deserve a reward.
So, und nu gehe ich Anleitungen stöbern.
And so off to pattern-surf I go.
