Es hat jetzt ungefähr 30 Stunden durgehend geschneit. Immer nur kleine Flocken, aber in der Summe kam doch ganz schön was runter. Ich liebe diese weisse, stille Welt dort draussen … den Blick aus dem Fenster von meinem Sofa aus … unter die Decke kuscheln, heissen Tee trinken, Bücher lesen … die Zeit steht still, nichts ist mehr so wichtig, dass es nicht warten könnte.

It has been snowing non-stop for about 30 hours. Small flakes most of the time, but all in all, it’s quite alot of snow. I love this silent white world out there … the look out of the window from my sofa … cuddling under blankets, drinking hot tea, reading books … time stands still, nothing’s so important that it couldn’t wait until another day.

Der Winter ist zurück. Also nicht daß er jemals weg gewesen wäre. Zumindest nicht hier bei uns. Aber heute Nacht hatten wir Neuschnee, wie nett. Kurzfristig kommen da schon Gedanken an Winterschlaf hoch, aber dafür habe ich zuviel zu tun. Zu meinem grossen Erstaunen habe ich grad festgestellt, daß der Januar ja schon fast vorbei ist. Wie konnte das denn passieren?

Winter’s back. Well, not that it’s ever been gone, at least not in this corner of the world. Anyhow, tonight we got a fresh layer of snow. Nice. I must admit to seriously considering hibernating but I’m too busy right now. Much to my surprise, I only just realized that January already is almost over. Where in the world did the time go?

Ich würde Euch ja zu gerne mal zeigen, wie groß unsere Peanut schon geworden ist, aber leider ist sie derzeit nicht in vorzeigbarem Zustand. Sie hat wieder mal versucht, durch die Katzenklappe zu krabbeln und bei dem Versuch die halbe Tür mitgenommen, denn die Katzenklappe ist nunmal für Katzen gemacht, und die sind doch (unwesentlich) kleiner als Collies. Entsprechend zerkratzt und verbeult sieht die Pea nun auch aus. (Ja, die Tür auch, falls Ihr das fragen wolltet.) Irgendwie wächst bei Collies das Gehirn erst ganz zum Schluß. Sollte mich nicht mehr wundern, ich hab’s ja schon zweimal durch. Bei den anderen beiden hat es am Ende auch geklappt, also hegen wir doch noch Hoffnung für die Pea.

I would so love to show you how our darling Peanut has grown but she is not exactly in a presentable condition at present. She tried to jump through the cat flap which – suprisingly – didn’t work because – even more surprisingly – an average cat is somewhat smaller than a Collie, a lesson Miss Pea had to learn the hard way when she got stuck in the door. Now she’s got this battered and bruised tough girl kind of look. (And so does the door, in case you wanted to know.) It seems that with Collies, the brain is the last part of the body to grow. It shouldn’t surprise me at all, I’ve been there twice before. The other two did grow smart(er) in the end so here’s hoping for Miss Pea.
