One glance and she was mine. I’ve wanted [...]]]> Ich wußte auf den ersten Blick, daß sie meine ist. Ich wünsche mir schon seit Jahren eine schwarzweiße Katze mit möglichst viel schwarz im Gesicht. Entsprechend groß war die Freude, als ich sie hier im Nest entdeckte. Einen Namen hatte ich auch gleich: Chanda. Mond. So romantisch. :-))

One glance and she was mine. I’ve wanted a black and white cat with a black face for ages so guess you can imagine my joy when I saw her there in the nest. I chose a name straight away: Chanda. Moon. So very romantic. :-))

Aber dann wuchs sie und ich stellte fest, der Name paßt ja nun gar nicht zu ihr. Sie hat so etwas rundum Bodenständiges an sich, dafür fehlt ihr alles Ätherische. Sie ist eine kleine, verspielte Wuchtbrumme mit deutlichen Elstertendenzen, aber sie klaut nur schön bunte Wolle, die öde einfarbige und das Zeug in Brauntönen kann ich behalten, danke. Entsprechend kam ich auf die Idee, sie “Magpie” zu nennen, aber das hätte dann in “Maggie” geendet. Eine Zeitlang war “Boo” in der engeren Wahl. Sie hat mich schon öfter erschreckt, wenn sie plötzlich hinter mir saß und ich fast über sie gefallen wäre. Das Problem ist nur, sagt man in Hörweite von Peanut “Buh!”, dann will die Peanut unters nächstbeste Möbelstück krabbeln, weil sie ist nämlich so schreckhaft.

But then she grew and I had to admit the name just didn’t fit her at all. She is a sturdy playful little magpie though she’ll only steal the lovely colourful yarn, I can keep all that boring unicoloured stuff and the browns, thank you very much. I seriously thought about calling her “Magpie” but I knew it would end in “Maggie”. “Boo” was another name I debated. Considering how often the little one spooked me by silently creeping up behind me and almost having me trip over her… Only saying “boo” within Peanut’s earshot will spook the poor dog so much that she’ll try to hide under the next best piece of furniture.

Ich habe mir wirklich den Kopf zerbrochen. Eine kleine diebische Katzenelster läßt sich ja nun auch schlecht mit einem Wort beschreiben, was die Namensfindung passend zur Persönlichkeit wiederum erschwert.

I kept thinking about it all the time. It’s so difficult to describe a thievish little cat magpie personality in one word, hence finding a name got even more difficult.

Heute dann lag ich auf dem Sofa und sie tobte über mich drüber, stoppte abrupt kurz vor meinem Gesicht und schaute mir tiiiief in die Augen. Und da wußte ich es. Sie ist so süß und so rund und so pelzig. Sie ist …

(Und ja, sie hat tatsächlich einen Tritt wie ein Mammut. Aber das ist eine komplett andere Geschichte. *grins* Entschuldigung an alle Maggies dieser Welt. Es ist nicht so, daß ich den Namen nicht mag, er paßt nur nicht zu meinem Kind. Finde ich.)

(And yes, felt like a mammoth when she ran all over me. But then, that’s another story. LOL. My appologies to all the Maggies in this world. It’s not that I don’t like the name, I just don’t think it fits my baby.)

Und schon ist also wieder Herbst. Erstaunlich finde ich, daß der Herbst die pünktlichste aller Jahreszeiten zu sein scheint. Immerhin [...]]]>

Und schon ist also wieder Herbst. Erstaunlich finde ich, daß der Herbst die pünktlichste aller Jahreszeiten zu sein scheint. Immerhin begann er letztes Jahr auch schon pünktlich am 1. September, genau wie dieses Jahr. Ich wäre dafür, auch für die anderen Jahreszeiten feste Daten einzuführen, dann wäre ich auch immer pünktlich mit allen Projekten fertig. Vielleicht.

And so it’s autumn again. It amazes me to no end that autumn seems to be the only season able to read the calendar, considering that it started on 1st September last year just as well as this year. I really do think the other seasons should follow its example. That way, I would always finish all my projects on time. Maybe.

Am back home. Surgery went well. I’ll still have to take things slow for a while but at least I’m back home.

Sorry, I have no idea number what of the year these are. Doesn’t matter as long as they’re done.

Yeah, I know … I [...]]]> Ich weiß, ich weiß … ich hatte mir fest vorgenommen, erstmal die Hexagon Blanket fertigzuhäkeln. Aber gestern hat die Granny Square Blankie so gebettelt, daß ich sie doch bitte bitte in die Hand nehmen soll, da konnte ich nicht anders. Ich hatte schon fast vergessen, wie warm und kuschelig sie ist.

Yeah, I know … I said I would finish Hexagon Blanket first of all. Then yesterday, Granny Square Blankie begged me so long and hard to pick her up that I couldn’t resist. I had almost forgotten how warm and cosy she is.

Ich liebe, liebe, liebe die Farben! Eine der Farbkombinationen sind schon ein wenig schräg, aber das stört nicht weiter.

I love love love the colours! Some of the colour combinations do take some getting used to but who cares.

Ich würde sagen, ungefähr zur Hälfte ist sie fertig.

Hmmm … vielleicht sollte ich doch diese Decke zuerst fertigstellen?

Vor einiger Zeit hatte ich mir ein Macro Kit gekauft, also drei Linsen, die man vor das Objektiv schrauben kann (ein Objektiv ist im Moment unerschwinglich). Jetzt habe ich endlich mal Zeit zum Ausprobieren, natürlich bevorzugt an den üblichen Verdächtigen:
