About Me

Hi, I’m Ella. *waves in your general direction*

So how do I describe myself? I guess it’s safe to say that I’m a very curious person. I’m interested in all kinds of things, love to learn new stuff, and just grow as a person. I love to be creative in more ways than I could possibly show in my blog – knitting and crocheting, sewing, bullet journaling, decorating the house, cooking and baking … you name it, I’ve possibly tried it. Sometimes my ideas work out, sometimes they don’t. Some I will show here, some I’d rather forget about.

I’ve been interested in photography from childhood on but it was only in 2006 that I finally got serious about it. That was the year when my husband Steve bought me my first DSLR, a Canon EOS 350 D. Finally, I was able to just snap away, try different settings, see the results in an instance, and learn what works and doesn’t work for me, all without being afraid of waisting expensive films. Even though I’m an avid reader and still refer to books more than the internet for information, I’ve found that with photography, I prefer a hands-on approach.

As a teenager, I dreamt of travelling to foreign countries, learning about different lifestyles and cultures, and writing about it. Well, life had other plans for me. Now, at the ripe age of 50+, Steve and I are starting to explore the world in a new way, from the seat of a motorbike. Since there are so may bikers these days who travel the world and blog, vlog or write books about it, I’ve decided to do the opposite and write about our daytrips, the places we’ve discovered, and the people we’ve met along the way. If you’re interested, you can read about our motorbike adventures on our website kurvenfliegen.de. It’s all in German, though – but there are lots of photos over there as well, so even if you don’t understand the language, you should at least get an idea of the area we live in.

Well, ’nuff said. I’ll leave you to explore my blog now. If you need me, I’ll be on the sofa, with a book in hand and a cup of tea at the ready. Thanks for stopping by and reading, and if you’d take the time to leave a comment, I’d really appreciate that. Have a lovely day.
