No photos today, I just wasn’t in the mood to take photos of those darn socks yet again. At least I can tell you that they’re almost done, I just have to darn in the ends. Other than that, I knit some more rows on my seed stitch blankets. And that’s all, folks. In my defence, I started my new job on Thursday, and guess what – working really cuts into my crafty time. Then again, working enables me to buy lovely crafty stuff. That is, it will once I’m done catching up fashion-wise (working in a boutique does all kinds of girly fashiony stuff to your mind, believe me).

And then I took the shrug out in the hopes of finishing it. That was before I tried it on, though. It doesn’t fit. Yeah, I know, go ahead, laugh. I was so focused on getting that pattern right that I never bothered to check. My first thought included some exotic choice words and very sharp scissors but the yarn is just too lovely for that. I still intend to knit a shrug or cardigan to match the dress I intend to sew but I’m putting it off for now. For now, I’ll just keep working on my blankets, make make a few pillows, and keep up the sock knitting.

  1. I hope you’re enjoying your new job. It sounds like you might be! 🙂 Life has a way of changing our crafty plans and ambitions. Sorry to hear that the shrug doesn’t fit. I can so imagine your frustration (been there, done that, or something similar – grrrrr). We’ll look forward to seeing photos when you finish your socks and whenever you want to post pictures of all your other creations, too.

Thank you, Becki. I love my new job, love the work itself, the hours are fab, and my new coworkers are great, too. Plus it’s a wonderful feeling to be able to contribute to the family income again. Part of the frustration about the shrug is an ongoing health issue that seems to make me gain weight just by taking deep breaths. I’m quite determined to lose some of that weight before I go back to making garments. And since I have two blankets to finish anyway, I won’t be running out of crafty projects any time soon anyway. 😉

  2. So sorry about the shrug. It happens to all of us. Working does cut into crafting but it has it’s own rewards. As you said, it allows for you to buy yummy yarn. I bet there will be photos next week of finished items.

Thank you, Rain. One of the reasons I decided to do a top down raglan was that I could try it on to see if it fits. Well, what was that saying about the best laid plans? 😉 I love my new job, I get to play with fashion and get paid for it! 😀

  3. I hope your new job is something you enjoy. I hated working retail. Glad you joined in this year and I hope to get to know you…are you in Germany? I lived there as a kid for a couple years, as my father was in the service. Also had German ancestors.

Hi Gracey, thanks for your comment. I love my new job, it’s just right for me. I couldn’t say I love working retail in general since it so depends on the actual job and the people you work with. I’m really lucky with both. Yes, I’m in Germany – Northern Bavaria. Where did you stay as a kid?
