Hello my dears, welcome to the „We’ve Got Vanillas!“ edition! Inspite of a very exhausting week, I actually managed to finish my second sock AND even darn in those ends:
Just plain vanillas done in Aldi yarn my mother gave me ages ago. I really like all the different shades of blue but the yarn itself wasn’t too nice to knit with, the ply was kind of irregular, with thicker and thinner parts throughout. Ah well, I’ll live, I guess. Anyway, they’re finished and will keep my toes warm next winter, and that’s all that matters in the end.
Since I had my darning needle out anyway …
This is the pair of socks I started back in May, finished knitting some time in Idontevenremember – I think it must have been June, though – and just now got round to weaving ends in. The yarn is an ONline Merino, and it’s so beautifully soft soft soft, and will be wonderful to wear.
So all in all, I proudly present FOs no.s 2 and 3 for this year (the first being the pair of silk vanillas that I never took a photo of). I cast on another pair of vanillas right away (seriously, why change a winning team? At least I’m getting SOMETHING done, right?) because I really need a take along project for this week. It’s going to be a week of travelling and long work hours, and I will definitely need something mindless to work on during breaks.
I love the colors in those socks, Ella. IF I were to try to knit socks I’m sure knitting vanilla socks would make me happy for a long, long time. There are so many variations in yarn, every pair would truly be different.
Thank you, Becki. I love all those variegated yarns, and I never bother to even try to knit matching socks. I like them just the way they come out. Funny thing is that I can’t stand that kind of variation in a sweater, though.
Sometimes when I give away socks I have to check to make sure i’ve sewn in the ends. Usually i’m Just so pleased to have them done and in a hurry to cast on the next thing. Vanilla Socks are great for knitting in any circumstance and one of the best choices for self-striping yarn. Bring on the next pair of Vanillas!
Thank you, dear. I usually sit and admire them and say that I can’t wait to wear them, and still don’t feel like weaving in those ends. You’re right, vanillas are great for showing of the beauty of self-striping yarns. And stockinette just knits up so fast.
Your socks are lovely. I like that you made vanilla socks and let the pattern of the yarn speak. Congrats on the finishes.
Thank you, Marsha. I’m glad I finally got something finished, and in the same month that I started it. That hasn’t happened for a long time.
Great finishes, and in lovely colours too.
Thank you, Sharon. Wait until you see my newly started sock, that yarn is such a darling, colour-wise.
Loving those vanilla socks!! Such pretty colours!
Thank you, Iris. They are my favourite colours.
Love your socks!
Thank you, Ali. I wore the pink pair today and they’re even softer than I expected.
Gorgeous colors and vanilla is my favorite flavor!
Thank you, Maria. It’s becoming my favourite flavor as well, it seems.
What great looking socks and well done on the finishes!
Thank you, Ruth. Slow progress is still progress, right?
